In the project “Preserving Heritage Together,” the World Heritage Management Cultural Landscape Hallstatt-Dachstein/Salzkammergut Association is working with Herbert Kefer from the Bad Goisern Local History Museum on ways for the inhabitants of the Inner Salzkammergut region to actively participate in the digital collection and preservation of cultural and natural heritage. Photos, documents, local history, landscapes, and buildings are being digitally recorded and preserved for the future in publicly accessible databases.

On Thursday, November 20, 2025, interested parties from the Inner Salzkammergut region met at the Open.Space of the Hand.Werk.Haus Salzkammergut to learn about and discuss opportunities for participating in the project.

After a brief introduction to the “Preserving Heritage Together” project, joint opportunities were discussed:

• Collection of images and objects to be digitized from private individuals, communities, institutions, museums, etc.
• Integration of existing image collections into the Topothek
• Entering data into the Topothek (keywording and identification)
• Technical support and monitoring
• Support for research days in schools

Many thanks to the committed participants and the lively discussion! The next step will be to establish the technical and organizational structures together at regular meetings.
