- World Heritage Hallstatt: The Hallstatt-Dachstein/Salzkammergut World Heritage area is a unique cultural landscape with a rich architectural heritage. My name is Friedrich Idam, and in each episode I present a new aspect of our World Heritage. This podcast is supported by ICOMOS, the International Council on Monuments and Sites.
- Simple Smart Buildings: Simple Smart Buildings represent structures that are built simply and durably. For generations before us, it was normal to construct lasting buildings with simple means. This building approach has proven itself over centuries, and we can learn from it. In different regions, resilient building constructions and types developed from locally available materials, lasting for centuries and still offering high usability today. This podcast explores ways to build simply yet effectively.
Johann Rudorfer
The "Archäonaut"
Archaeologist Johann Rudorfer has been working for more than 20 years at the Natural History Museum Vienna on the annual archaeological research in Hallstatt. As head of the above-ground measures, he conducts investigations in the prehistoric cemetery and settlement area. Additionally, he coordinates the archaeological accompanying work during construction projects both at the salt mine and within the town of Hallstatt itself.
In his program “Der Archäonaut”, he takes us to the Hallstatt highlands as well as to other archaeological sites in the Salzkammergut and around the world. This provides insights into archaeological research as well as the everyday life of archaeologists in Austria.
